West Palm Beach-based Shoes for Crews expands

WEST PALM BEACH – Shoes for Crews Inc., a maker of slip-resistant footwear, is moving its West Palm Beach headquarters to a bigger site within the city, and consolidating  offices, a move that will bring 30 more jobs to Palm Beach County.

The Business Development Board of Palm Beach County, which has assisted the company in making the move, announced the Shoes for Crews plans Monday afternoon.

“We are delighted about our new location and appreciate the partnership with the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County.  The new facility will allow us to continue to grow and provide new jobs in Palm Beach County,” Shoes for Crews CEO Matthew Smith said in a statement.

Shoes for Crews now occupies 24,000 square feet at 1400 Centrepark Boulevard in West Palm. Its new headquarter covers 37,000 square feet at 250 S. Australian Avenue, also in West Palm Beach.

As part of the move, the company is closing it Las Vegas office and moving those jobs to West Palm Beach. Shoes for Crews . The company will add 30 jobs locally over the next two years.

The BDB assisted the company with information on training grants, tax credits, and other assistance in filling new positions.

Shoes For Crews was founded in New York in 1984, and moved to to West Palm Beach in 1995. Its orginal 10-employee staff has grown to more than 200 at its headquarters alone.  The company specializes in work shoes, particularly for employees in slippery conditions.
