By Palm Beach Business.com

FORT LAUDERDALE — A Broward County man faces as much as 22 years in prison after pleading guilty to fraud charges in connection with a massive scheme to steal the identities of thousands and file false income tax returns under their names, in federal district court.

Rodney Saintfleur, 28, of West Park, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to defraud the government,  unauthorized use of an online database to collect personal information and one count of aggravated identity theft.

According to federal prosecutors, Saintfleur, an employee of a North Miami law firm,  had access to Lexus/Nexus, which he used to gather names, dates of birth and Social Security numbers of thousands of people, which he provided his coconspirators to use to file false tax returns seeking refunds.

Over a period of more than three years beginning in 2009, Saintfleur gathered more than 26,000 Social Security numbers through the database.

Saintfleur is scheduled to be sentenced by federal Judge Robert Scola on Feb. 22.
