BOYNTON BEACH – If you looked to the west around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening, you would have seen this — a pileus cloud formed over the sun creating a rainbow effect. A pileus is basically a cap over another cloud caused by a column of rising air. Severe thunderstorms in the western parts of Palm Beach County were the source for this cloud; Ice crystals in the cloud refracted the light from the late evening sun and made one spectacular sight to behold.
