Montague resigns from Delray commission
DELRAY BEACH — Vice Mayor Brenda Montague will resign as a member of the Delray Beach City Commission effective at the end of business on July 18 for family reasons.
The city said her family is being offered a professional opportunity in California that will require them to move from Delray.
Montague moved to Delray 10 years ago. She served as a member of of the Community Redevelopment Agency for more than five years. She was elected to the city commission in 2006, won a second two-year term in March and was appointed vice mayor later that month.
She also has been involved with the Southwest Redevelopment Plan, the Community Land Trust, the NW 5th Avenue historic business district and Atlantic Grove
Montague also worked with the Downtown Marketing Cooperative, Downtown Development Implementation Committee, Government Affairs for the Realtors Association of the Palm Beaches, the Palm Beach County Tourist Development Council, and the Palm Beach County Fair Housing/Equal Opportunity Board.
"Although we are looking forward to a new and exciting life, I regret that it will take us away from Delray Beach and Palm Beach County, which has been our home for over twenty years," Montague said.
