Gasoline spikes again

DELRAY BEACH — What goes up must come down — except when it comes to gasoline prices. After slowing in late April, they've spiked once again, creeping dangerously close to $4.

The U.S. Energy Information Agency reported the national average for a gallon of regular at $3.722, up from $3.613 a week ago and $3.389 a month ago.

The all-grades average hit $3.771, up from $3.663 a week ago and $3.438 a month ago.

In Florida, regular hit $3.709, up from $3.616 a week ago and $3.395 a month ago. For all grades, the Florida average hit $3.77, up from $3.69 a week ago and $3.459 a month ago.

AAA pegged the Palm Beach County average for regular at $3.837; a month ago, it sat at $3.486.

Palm Beach County continued to have the highest prices among Florida’s metro areas.

The EIA put diesel at $4.331 a gallon, up from $4.149 a week ago and $4.059 a month ago.

In Palm Beach County, diesel averaged $4.446 a gallon.
