Diesel prices climb again; Palm Beach still has most expensive gas in Florida
DELRAY BEACH — Gasoline prices continue to climb, according to the latest weekly data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
Diesel prices shot up as well, for the first time in weeks.
The EIA reported that the national average for gallon of regular hit $4.114, up from $4.095 a week ago and $4.039 a month ago.
The average price for all grades of gas was $4.165 a gallon, up from $4.146 a week ago and $4.09 a month ago.
In Florida, EIA said regular gasoline averaged $4.057, up from $4.024 a week ago and $3.984 a month ago. The state average for all grades: $4.122, up from $4.091 a week ago and $4.049 a month ago.
AAA said regular in Palm Beach County hit $4.17 a gallon, about 6 cents more than the national average. A month ago regular averaged $4.072. The county continues to have the highest gas prices in Florida.
Diesel has been on the decline for the past three weeks, but prices resumed their upward climb, hitting $4.727 a gallon this week compared with $4.645 last week and $4.692 a month ago.
In Palm Beach County, diesel averaged $4.883 on Monday, according to AAA; a month ago it averaged $4.807 a gallon.
