Mortgage rates hold near all-time lows
By Palm Beach Business.com
DELRAY BEACH — Mortgage rates stayed near historic lows, moving little over the past week, according to both Bankrate and Freddie Mac surveys released Thursday.
Freddie’s Primary Mortgage Market Survey found the average 30-year, fixed-rate mortgage dropped to 3.88 percent with 0.8 point, down from 3.90 a week ago. The all-time low for the 30-year: 3.87 percent set earlier this year.
Bankrate’s national mortgage survey has the 30-year at 4.11 percent with 0.39 point, up from 4.10 percent a week ago.
Bankrate said concerns over the Greek debt crisis (where have we heard that before?) continue to hold down rates. Friday’s jobs report from the Labor Department could change things if the numbers deviate much from expectations.
According to Freddie Mac’s survey, the 15-year fell to 3.13 percent with 0.8 point down from 3.17 percent a week ago; according Bankrate, the 15-year fell to 3.34 percent with 0.34 point from 3.35 percent a week ago.
