Sign of the season: Delray's 100-foot tree 'grows' in downtown

A crew from Meisner Electric put the final touches on the outside of Delray Beach's 100-foot holiday tree.

DELRAY BEACH — The annual ritual of raising Delray Beach's 100-foot holiday tree is just about done — at least on the outside. Workers from Meisner Electric used a crane Friday to put on the final branches and connect the strings of lights that will illuminate the tree on Nov. 29.

Once the work on the outside is completed, work on the inside — four houses will be sheltered inside the mammoth tree — will begin.

And then there's the task of erecting Santa's workshop, the ice rink and a carousel, all of which add to holiday festivities.
