DELRAY BEACH – C.K.'s Lockshop, one of south Palm Beach County's oldest businesses celebrated the grand opening of new Delray Beach store Wednesday, with city officials and members of the Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce taking part.
C.K.'s moved its store on South Federal Highway from just south of Linton Boulevard to the Plaza of Delray just north of Linton.
The new store provides C.K.'s with more space, better space and, hopefully, more store traffic, said Robert Stephens, one of four C.K.'s owners. The other owners are Bruce and Chris Volpe and Tina Stephens.
C.K.'s was found in 1960 by C.K. Smith, and is headquartered in Boynton Beach, where it has its main showroom. The Stephens and the Volpes have owned the company since 1992. They are the fourth owners.
The company recently expanded by buying Clayton-Colfax Locksmiths. Robert Stephens said the company provides full security service, not just locks.
"Our motto is full circle security," Robert Stephens said.
The company has 10 trucks on the road and 18 employees. It had as many as 25 before the economy turned south and demand fell off. "We're moving in the other direction now," Robert Stephens said.
