Feds charge Broward tax preparers with filing false returns
By Palm Beach Business.com
FORT LAUDERDALE — Two North Broward tax preparers have charged with submitting false income tax returns with the Internal Revenue that inflated client refunds and brought them higher fees.
The two charged: Teresa Francis-Kasu, 36 of Coconut Creek and Tendai Busuman, 30 of Pompano Beach. They face a maximum for 10 years in prison if found guilty.
According to court documents, Francis-Kasu and Busuman worked as tax return preparers at Right Quick Tax Services in Sunrise. The defendants and an unnamed co-conspirator allegedly prepared tax returns that contained false and inflated claims for deductions for substantially inflated income tax withholding credits and telephone excise tax refund credits.
The higher tax refunds, in turn, brought higher, fees for Francis-Kasu and Busuman, according to court documents.
