Avenue Pilates to host annual benefit for AVDA

DELRAY BEACH — Since it began three years ago, Avenue Pilates' annual Holiday Fundraiser and Toy Drive has generated thousands of dollars — and hundreds of toys — for families served by AVDA, Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse.

This holiday season, with families struggling to overcome financial challenges, organizers of the event are hoping to raise more than $5,000 for AVDA and collect more toys than ever before for those in need.

"For years, AVDA has played an important role in helping women and children whose lives are turned upside down by domestic abuse," said Jean Magrella, president of Avenue Pilates in Delray Beach. "Our holiday event is one more opportunity for our community to come together and support the efforts of this outstanding organization and to brighten the holidays for those it serves."

The event - which begins at 7 p.m. on Dec. 17 at Avenue Pilates, 430 NE 5th Ave. in Delray Beach - will feature live music, belly dancers, food samplings from several Delray Beach restaurants as well as a special appearance by North Pole visitors. Guests are asked to bring an unwrapped new toy and to make a donation. Those donating $10 will receive two tickets to Delray Beach Garlic Fest. For a donation of $25, guests will receive an ultrasonic microdermabrasion for face and neck at Bella Reina Spa. For a $50 donation or more guests will have their name entered in a drawing to win unlimited Pilates classes for one year - a $2,400 value.

Sponsors of this year's event include Avenue Pilates, Bella Reina Spa, Boston's on the Beach, Caffé Luna Rosa, Cut 432, Delray Beach Garlic Fest, Dolce Amore Café, Ellie's 50's Diner, Joseph's Wine Bar, LaCigale and Pizza Rustica.
